Anna Bass

Anna is the founder of *Edviatec*, an online platform aimed at guiding students through the European university system, starting with France. The platform leverages technology and data analysis to provide personalized recommendations for higher education programs, addressing the gap in accessible and affordable educational consulting services in Europe. The idea was sparked by personal experience, as she witnessed her brother struggle with choosing a university as an immigrant unfamiliar with the French system.

In the first year of *Edviatec*, her team conducted extensive market research through thousands of interviews with students, parents, and higher education institutions, collecting the necessary data to develop the platform. This included creating an algorithm capable of matching students to educational programs based on both academic and non-academic criteria. The platform’s mission is to make higher education more accessible, especially for students from underrepresented or financially disadvantaged backgrounds.

In addition to her entrepreneurial work, Anna has been active in leadership roles at her international school and through volunteer efforts, including supporting Ukrainian refugees. Her experiences across multiple countries and languages have informed her commitment to providing tailored educational support for students worldwide.

Nora Artico

Nora Artico, a 19-year-old student, has made notable advancements in microbiology with her discovery of nine previously unknown E. Coli bacteriophages. She conducted this research for her final high school thesis in collaboration with ETH Zurich researchers Enea Maffei and Alexandre Harm. The bacteriophages were found in animal feces at Basel Zoo, including samples from elephants.

Nora’s discovery holds significant potential in addressing one of the major global health threats: antibiotic-resistant bacteria, as identified by the WHO. Her research is focused on how these bacteriophages can be used to combat infections that no longer respond to conventional antibiotics. This breakthrough has gained recognition from the Swiss Youth Research Foundation, and Nora has been selected to represent Switzerland at the European Union Contest for Young Scientists.

Her work not only contributes to the fight against antibiotic resistance but also exemplifies her commitment to advancing public health. Despite her young age, Nora’s research has already shown potential for real-world applications, offering an innovative solution to a critical issue in modern medicine.
